The Val Riazanov DVD is selling well which is good news as it is our first production! I am learning so much about Internet Marketing and as I have said before, it is this style of marketing that will dictate the future.
As I am from the UK, I like to keep track of the news and regularly read the online version of The Daily Mail, but what horrifies me, is the amount of gun crime that seems to be occurring back home and the amount of ordinary people who are trying to protect their homes and suffer at the hands of the intruders, or what is becoming more worse still, the law!
In the UK, you have to exercise 'reasonable force' when defending yourself and in one example, a man was woken in his home at night and went into an upstairs room only to confront a burglar trying to break in through an upstairs window. During the confrontation, burglar fell and is now suing the homeowner for damages! Here in Texas, there would have been a very different outcome as the burglar would have most likely been shot. You simply do not go uninvited on to someone else's home after dark in Texas and most people are aware of this and of course the consequences!
Val is due here in a couple of weeks and we are changing our next DVD theme to one of self protection. Val is going to explain the Russian Special Forces methods of survival, in any situation and we are marketing this on protecting yourself, your family and your home and we will show some very effective self defense techniques, defenses against pistols, shotguns, knives and more importantly, overall awareness of problems before they occur. Also, we will touch on the psychological aspects – both for those doing the protecting and the assailants.
It is sad to see the UK bearing the brunt of such crimes – especially when they involve the killing of children and I am afraid that it is only going to get worse. For me, the government needs to address this issue immediately and I do support the notion of an armed Police Force – at least they will be equal to the problem!

For what it’s worth, here is my take on handguns. I’m not too crazy about them. I carried and fired a Colt .45 in the Army, and I was not too terrific at hitting a target with one. My comrades were even worse. Little wonder that “innocent bystanders” get killed when these things start going off.
If you check statistics for the USA, I think you’ll find that the preponderance of deaths by handguns consists of spouses, offspring, selves, and friends — not necessarily in that order. I think few homeowners, even the few who might have weapons, have resisted home invasions because, as in the USA, very few crimes like this actually committed. When they have been, and the homeowner is armed, he can’t get to the lockbox in the closet and load his weapon in time.
It is unfortunate that armed crimes are on the upswing in Blighty. One wonders where these guys get weapons in a country that prohibits ownership of them. At the top of the supply chain are American and European manufacturers producing tons of weapons at a very nice profit. It’s unreasonable to think all of these weapons are marketed to legitimate consumers. Loads have to be going to the no-goodniks in GB, the USA, and elsewhere. There is the whiff of organized crime and terrorist organizations in the marketing chain about all of this.
I think the way to control this is not to arm the gendarmerie of GB (ever been to a place like Paris or Mexico City and seen the cops carrying submachineguns?; it doesn’t really produce a sense of greater security and it’s not really conducive to having a good time as a tourist there). And it’s not to give every citizen the right to pack heat (as the husband of my ex-wife espouses on his web site). We tried that for a while in the West around 1860-1890, and it didn’t go over so well.
I think the way to control this problem in GB is to control the illegal imports to GB. The Sceptered Isle and the USA are both doing a woefully horrible job of inspecting containers of imported goods.
The gun problem may be too late for the USA to solve. Building and filling to capacity more and more jails hasn’t worked. (I do think George Carlin had the best idea a long time ago: ban the sale of ammunition.) But I think there’s time for Britain to get a better handle on the problem. It’s unlikely, though, as your homeland has done a miserable job of keeping Muslim youths from being driven into the arms of the Islam radicals. There’s probably more danger represented by their bombs than by Jamaicans brandishing handguns.
